THE STORY BEHIND

"Pastor Stephanus van de Pavert, a few like him who knows and loves the people, knowing to figure out the good in the people, appreciating and developing, but also not blind for their faults and flaws.", as written in the Amigoe di Curaçao from Saturday August 11, 1928. Stephanus who has dedicated many years to the formation of the youth of Curaçao composed songs for various musicals of which the music was written by John de Pool. Musicals, such as "Traidor y Cobarde" (Traitor and Coward) cited columns such as ‘Curaçaosche Ditjes en Datjes’ (Curaçao Bits and Bobs) in the Amigoe di Curaçao. One of his songs is on this cd-single Nos Ta Canta; Riba Awa.

Dushi luna, bo ta sigi
Camna den bo briyo klá
Ningun nubia ta strobabo
I mi só por anhélá

Den mi alma tin un duele
Di no por manera bo
Sigui largu mi careda
Sigui bula, bula só

SOLO TROMPET

Dushi luna, ai, mi duele
Ta bo so lo por tendé
Bo n’ta papia, bo n’ta reda
Na bo só mi por splik’é

Den mi alma bo ta mira
Briy’un lágrima skondí
Ai mi suerte, ai ta tristu
Curason ta oprimí

Den mi alma bo ta mira
Briy’un lágrima skondí
Ai mi suerte, ai ta tristu
Curason ta oprimí
